The Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani (1923-1998) was one of the most popular Arabic-language poets of the twentieth century, well-known for his focus on eroticism and love. ![]() He was a campaigner for women's rights, and his verses praise the beauty of the female body, and of love. It portrays Kabbani's style - direct, spontaneous, musical, using the language of everyday life. This translation of Nizar Kabbani's poetry is accompanied by the Arabic texts of the poems.
